A few weeks ago, I released an editorial describing what I hoped to hear in the governor’s budget address on February 7. Now that I’ve had some time to digest his speech and review the spreadsheets, I thought it was a good time to share my impressions of the governor’s proposals with my constituents.

On February 7th, Governor Corbett will deliver his second annual budget address to the General Assembly. This will be the official beginning of the 2012-2013 budget cycle and many of my constituents have asked me what to expect. I’m not going to speculate on the direction the Governor will take this year, but, I can predict that this will be another difficult budget cycle.

I have received many phone calls, e-mails, and letters asking if I support the Governor’s budget, specifically the cuts in education, and asking me to stop them. The short answer is no, I do not support the proposed cuts to education and, yes, I am doing everything I can to encourage my colleagues in the General Assembly to find ways to provide more funding for education.

Dan Truitt (R-Chester) wants to remind residents that Chester County will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Collection event for Chester County residents on April 9 at the CAT Pickering Center for Arts and Technology Campus, 1580 Charlestown Road. The collection will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
